My 20th Birthday

It’s my birthday. Thanks to everyone who remembered. Even those who remembered two days before it really happened :)

Thanks to everyone who made the ASA trip to Tahoe fun two weeks ago. A big fat gallon of hatorade for all the idiots who are irresponsible and can’t control themselves when they party or have a good time. The point of the trip is for everyone to have a great time. Why do some people think they can have a good time at the expense of other’s stress? Anyway…

I recently interviewed for a job at Mann Consulting in San Francisco. I was the first person they interviewed and I think the founders really liked me. I interviewed with three people and it took almost 2.5 hours. I think it would be great to work there and get a nice idea of the IT business world outside of the sheltered environment that TSW is. Not that I am knocking TSW. I’ve learned quite a few things while working there. I’ve also met some good friends. But I think its pretty obvious that I am much bigger than the position I am limited to there. I like helping a retired professor choose out a computer that they can use easily and enjoy but I’d much rather be making recommendations for a large firm deploying 50 workstations and three servers. I think I’m capable of doing things on that scale if not even beyond.

I have just been so swamped for time recently. I’m enjoying my operating systems class a lot because, well, I just enjoy learning that stuff. I love learning the “why” of things. Nothing is interesting to me without knowing the “why” behind it. I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing but that’s just me. I’ll even ask why at inappropriate times and that sometimes gets me in trouble. People think I am questioning them, their motives, or their decision-making capabilities but its just my instinct really.

By the way I never mentioned it here but I am no longer a Windows PC user. No I did not switch to Linux; I’ve got enough headaches in my life as it is.

This is my new baby.

I absolutely love it. Its the coolest and greatest computer I’ve owned. If you are looking to buy a new computer, don’t be surprised if I recommend a Mac if you ask for my advice. If you’re curious as to why I have switched or think they’re so great I’m happy to share my experience with you. And if you hate Macs then we can’t talk anymore…just kidding.

Just don’t bug me with questions like, “Armen, my computers got a virus what should I do?” My answer is going to be, “Buy a Mac and be done with all the headaches.”
