Heard about the power outage on the east coast? Yes? Okay don’t feel special, so did everyone else. But not everyone has satelite images of the area before and after the outage. I do though…

Avie and Dreams of a PowerBook

Wednesday, July 9th, 2003

“Tevanian started his career at Carnegie Mellon University, where he was the principal designer and engineer of the Mach operating system which served as the basis for NEXTSTEP, leading ultimately to the development of Mac OS X.” -MacCentral

That’s right folks. An Armenian was responsible for the principal design and engineering of the basis of Mac OS X. The gorgeous operating system that I sell to unexpecting Windows users at our store every day. Also the operating system I long to run on my Dell Latitude C400 to no avail.

I’ve come to the conclusion that life is better on a Mac. Specifically, on a PowerBook with a jaw-dropping screen.

USB… Blankets???

Sunday, March 2nd, 2003

It’s been a while huh? Let’s start by continuing our interesting devices that hook up to USB ports series. We’ve got USB coffee mug warmers here. Then you have USB heated blankets here. Crazy crazy, more to come later tonight.

In case any of you are interested in buying yourselves a new monitor. I can get you a brand new Dell (made by Samsung really) 19″ flat panel LCD display for only $600. That would be $200 below what Dell is selling it for today. It’s a real nice monitor, click to see. Here are the specs and a review. Let me know if you’re interested either by IM, email, or phone.

PowerBook BlowOut

Thursday, December 5th, 2002

We’re having an absolutely incredible promotion on some select Apple products at the store where I work. For starters, you can get the PowerBook laptop that normally retails at $2299 for ONLY $1596. That includes:

867MHz PowerPC G4

1MB L3 & 256K L2 cache

133MHz system bus

256MB SDRAM memory

40GB Ultra ATA hard drive

Combo Drive (DVD-ROM/CD-RW)

ATI Mobility Radeon 9000

w/32MB DDR video memory

Gigabit Ethernet

56K internal modem

1 FireWire & 2 USB Ports

AirPort Ready

Not to mention its got a 15 inch screen but only weighs about 5 pounds. So I’m stuck wishing this deal existed three months ago, then I’d be writing this while at a Powerbook. My loss is your gain, if you’re looking for a new laptop I basically recommend this to anyone, Mac user or not. OS X is new and much improved and PowerBooks are damn slick looking. Oh yeah we’ve also got 10GB and 20GB iPod models for $100 off their retail prices in case you’re into music. *digs around in the futon for spare change*

Well that’s two finals down and two to go…

Here is an interesting breakdown of Microsoft’s business plan, or lack thereof, for the Xbox haha. Its like I said from day one, it will fail or Microsoft will lose LOADS of money subsidizing it.
